Case Study

This enrolment case study follows the journey of 'Harriet' a student who enrolled at Park House Prep mid-school year due to her family relocating to the Gloucester area. While many students typically commence their education with us at the start of the academic year, we understand that circumstances vary, and we are committed to supporting children to join our school throughout the year.

Common Steps to Joining

Step 1: Initial Contact

  • Harriet's family contacted Park House Prep while living abroad, exploring schools in Gloucestershire before returning to the UK.

  • Harriet had been home-schooled during the two years the family lived overseas.

  • Within a few days, the family received a telephone call and subsequently agreed by email on a date for a personal tour of the school.

Step 2: School Tour

  • On returning to the UK, Harriet and her parents attend a personal tour of Park House Prep led by the school owner, where they meet the class teachers.

  • During the visit, we discussed how Park House Prep could best support Harriet's educational and pastoral needs, specifically the transition from homeschooling.

Step 3: Taster Day

  • After the visit, Harriet's parents requested a taster day to help her manage her anxiety about starting at a new school. The success of this initial day led the family to send Harriet again the following day, which included the weekly library visit.

  • Harriet was able to make new friends and become more familiar with teachers and the school routines.

Step 4: Enrolment

  • Harriet enjoys her taster day and particularly the opportunity to socialise with the other students.

  • It is decided that Harriet should join without further delay, and a date one week in advance is set. Harriet's family provided all relevant information, and fees were paid.

Step 5: Joining

  • On the day of joining, Harriet arrived at 8:30 to be met by her class teacher. Wearing her favourite tracksuit and without uniform concerns, Harriet was far less nervous than her parents expected.

  • She joined a class of 7 students and was paired with Jennifer for a morning of active mathematics.

Conclusion:

  • Harriet's joining process at Park House Prep was seamless and personalised, allowing her and her family to feel confident joining the school. Through open communication and opportunities to experience the school first-hand, Harriet and her family made an informed choice to join Park House Prep.he student.
